It was difficult to think of ONE vision to represent every descision made. Yet at the same time I believe our group had a vision all along without realizing it. So I don’t believe it will change the topics we discuss and the descisions we make but it WILL organize our thought track and let us know if we fulfilled our purpose.
Now that I have a vision I don’t think anything about my leadership techinique will change. Although, I do think that having to spell out my vision will get me to be more motivated to accomplish my goals.
Now that we have a vision, our leadership will take a turn for the better. We can now fund whatever class activities we want, as long as they support our vision. Now, we can connect the class more and more under one statement.
Now that I have a vision I have something to refer back to before I make a decision. Before when our “leadership team” made decisions I really don’t think that we had one statement to always refer back to.
I have never specfically thought of what we as class officers do. Now i have a goal, i know exactly why we are in office, what we are suppose to do, and why we are doing it. I think it is must better to have this understanding, it makes for a much better leader. Knowing my vision will now make me a better leader because i know what i’m working too.
My vision is going to help me in improving my ways of leading our class. I think that now our class wount be all over the place now, we will have something to work off from. and now that our class knows what we want, they can help us. and now they don’t think we are random, they know we have a vision and we are working towards something.
I feel as if our vision statement is important to have although I don’t think it will affect us that much. The vision statement gives us something that we can share with our peers and connect back to when coming up with ideas and decision making.
As noted in my response to question one, Site-Based does not yet have a vision due to them not having met yet. But i strongly believe that once we have a vision we will actually be able to implement our ideas into reality. I can’t wait to see what effect possesing a vision has on our council.
Well seeing as our vision is kind of under construction, I don’t really know what it will do yet. But I HOPE that it will act as a goal that we can constantly work towards and keep referring to.
Gee… my vision will help me save the world, but before I do that, my vision will help me, lead Student Council to a more involved one. My vision will give me reason for everything that I do to improve our school as a whole.
Well, I think that now that we have written our vision statement we will definitely have some more direction, thinking of activities which will make everyone feel more welcome or excited to be at school, but to give us an even stronger direction I think that we will have to think of some specific goals which will fit our vision statement.
I don’t really know if having a vision will change our class – it isn’t any change to our aims, just a formal statement of what we’ve been doing anyways.
now that i have a vision, our class officers are able to plan what we are going to do this year. we want to make sure that we start raising money for our senor year and we also want this year to be fun. we want to be able to have social days for everyone to get together.
Mostly, we’ll know where we’re heading in terms of overall improvement..but our low hanging fruit won’t be effected greatly. We can always refer back to our statement if we are questioning our decisions, but usually our leadership 09 squad is fairly decisive and agreeable.
Now that we have a concrete vision, it makes me want to work harder to make our vision a reality. As student reps to the board we really want to involve the students more with what the board is doing. We also want them to feel as they though they have a say in what happens in their school. I hope that with a vision in place, it will give us, the student reps to the board a path to follow in reaching our goals.
I don’t know to what extent, but yes. Our vision of “Students helping eachother acheive their dreams” will help us in being a guiding principal of helping to create a school where students are treated with respect by eachother and by the staff.
I think that our vision statment will guide our actions, and make sure that our actions have reason. I think it wont change my actions that much since I already had the general idea in my head. Yet I think that my vision statement will keep me on track.
I hope this is all true, and that your visions really will give you a direction and a check on your decisions. (Rather than you just writing it because you know it’s the “right” answer.) Having direction is SO important in leadership. I think I shared with you the sentiment that if you have no priorities then everything is your priority. That was something shared with me when I worked at the State Education Department and was trying to write policy for school leaders. It’s really stuck with me. I hope your vision sticks with you.
Having a vision now, I will be more motivated as a leader to take initiative and not let others down. We will strive to provide our fellow Class of 2010 to have the most comfortable 4 years in IHS as possible. I think that vision is a very important quality of a leader in the way that it is their map towards success. It reminds one to keep their eye on the prize and not to worry about the upcoming obstacles. I particularily liked the quote on pg 51 of Maxwell’s book because I felt it explained that a leader’s vision shouldn’t be broad, but instead very credible: “If you chase two rabbits, both will escape.”
IHS how we adore you/Below the rolling hills/You stand bold and beautiful/Next to the shimmering lake/You make us smile/IHS is top of the line/Our mascot is super fine/For IHS we'd run the extra mile/And we love you all the while

Hmmm. I don’t know yet. More direction? Less getting stranded? I think I need a raincheck until we actually have a vision. Mebbe.
